In this project the extrusion line cooling system was upgraded with the replacement of corroding steel to large bore Polyethylene pipe. Forced draft fans were reselected so that increased cooling duty was possible without the need to replace the cooling towers. With the introduction of variable speed pumping Amcor were able to increase production by 30% with zero increase in operating cost.
The external pipework , fittings, valving and the link up to internal plant was managed over a 24 hour shutdown. Commissioning and start-up was ready with 2 hours spare and current operating efficiency is up by 400%.
