Many materials handling devices, in particular cranes, and pressure vessels are potential hazards in the working environment. To ensure that you as the owner or operator of a device are compling with your duties under the HSE Act and regulations the equipment must be designed or verified by suitably qualified people.

A number of these types of devices are required to be gaurded and formally registered, sometimes anually.
